Multiple tornadoes rode across Lake Michigan on Saturday.
At least six waterspouts were reported along the lakeshore from Chicago to Green Bay within two hours.
Before Saturday, only 13 waterspouts had been reported along the Lake Michigan coast over the past decade. Total.
A waterspout is a vortex of water attached to a cloud, similar to tornadoes, but running over water, according to the National Weather Service.
Although a relative rarity for Lake Michigan, historically when they form it’s in the warmer months of July or August.
